Uncommon Wiley & Russell Mfg Tap & Die Set w/Wood Box split dies Pat Jan 1877

for auction is an uncommon Wiley & Russell split dies tap and die set. They are as found and will need a serious cleaning.  There are 10 dies all marked Wiley & Russell. Seven of the dies are marked with the Jan 30th 1877 patent date. The die holder handle is marked lightening screw plate  size 0. It is also marked Wiley & Russell Mfg. Co. Greenfield Mass.  Only 2 of the taps are marked Wiley & Russell. All the rest of the taps that are present are replacement taps.  The die sizes from left to right  are ; 11/64”-36, 5/64”-60, 3/32”-48, 1/8”-40, 3/16”-32, 9/64”-40, 5/32”-36, 7/64”-44, 7/32”-28, 1/16”-30.  There are a few of the split dies that are loose from their mount plate. ( I will leave the tightening of these split dies to the new owner.  Please see pictures for condition. Ask questions before you bid. The wood box is solid. The hinges are in good shape. The closing clasp is broken.
